The Kaffir lime is a low, evergreen shrub. Grown mainly for its distinctive lobed leaves. The leaves of the Kaffir Lime are used to flavour many Asian dishes and curries, and is a special ingredient in Thai cooking. The knobbly fruit when ripe has a thick, yellowish green rind with sour flesh which is slightly bitter. The fruit can be sliced and used for cocktails and cool drinks. Kaffir Lim is especially suitable for container growing.

Grow in a sunny position with well drained soil and protection from strong winds. Water regularly during the warmer months especially while fruit is forming. Water container specimens every 3-4 days. Prune in late spring removing inside growth and to shape the tree. Fertilise in spring and late summer/early autumn with high nitrogen fertiliser.
