Williams Bon Chretien Pear

Vigorous, self-fertile tree growing sweet, juicy, deliciously flavoured fruit. Shiny pointed oval-shaped green leaves with blossoms of white flowers in spring. Clusters of bell shaped fruit with green skin with a slight red colour which ripens to yellow. Pick fruit when mature but still hard. Great fruit for desserts, sauces, fruit salads and stewed.

Add pollinating partner to encourage large crop. Pollinators: Beurre Bosc, Nijisseki. Sensation is not suitable.

Choose an open sunny position in well-drained soil. After planting spread mulch above the roots to retain moisture and suppress weeds, but keep away from trunk. Apply fertiliser to soil above the roots as soon as new growth begins in spring and water in well. Protect from strong winds. Consider netting to protect from birds. Correct pruning techniques are essential to the trees fruiting success. Pick fruit when mature but still firm.
