A highly decorative, shrubby, deciduous fruit tree, growing to 4m tall with attractive foliage, flowers and fruits. The red juice around pomegranate seeds is prized. Fruit can also be used as decorations.

Large showy red flowers occur at branch ends in late Spring and Summer. Leaves are glossy green. Fruit develops toward ends of youngish branches in Autumn and remains hanging on the tree after the leaves have fallen, looking extremely ornamental.

Suited for most soils, including heavy soils. Although very drought tolerant, this plant requires adequate water during dry periods for good crops.

  • Full Sun – requires a warm position.
  • Mature size of 4m x 4m.
  • Best fruits occur when the atmosphere is hot and dry in Summer and Autumn.
