An evergreen, rounded shrub or small tree with glossy green, oval leaves. Richly fragrant, brownish-purple flowers are borne in spring and summer. The rich fragrance of the flowers make this shrub a useful addition to any shrubbery. Position plants where the perfume can be enjoyed.

Thrives in a sunny to partly shaded position in moist, humus rich, well drained soil. Protect from frost. Pruning will produce new flowering growth. Water well in summer.

Ideal for fragrant hedges or as feature plant in a tub.
