Often gets a red base in colder climates, and often changes from green to green with a red tinge at certain times. It has large purple berries around spring and summer.

Tolerates frost, moderate drought and has good erosion control capabilities. Great for mass plantings and low water gardens.

Grows in Sandy, Sandy loam and clay-like soils. Avoid very poor soils. Water well for 8 – 13 weeks until established. Cut back halfway every 3 – 7 years to encourage new growth.

  • Full Sun to Full Shade, moderate frost tolerant.
  • Purple/yellow flowers in October to November.
  • Mature height of 45cm and width of 40-50cm.
