A very showy cultivar with darker pink flowers and a better form than is common for the species. Excellent for floral and foliage display in smaller parks and gardens.

Has heavily textured dark green heart-shaped leaves which turn yellow-green to brown in Autumn. Has abundant clusters of deep rose-purple ‘pea” type flowers borne along the bare branches before the leaves emerge in spring.
