Callistemon ‘Captain Cook’

Callistemon viminalis (Captain Cook)

Full Sun Part Shade Dry Tolerant Frost Tolerant Wind Tolerant

Also known as Bottlebrush.

An evergreen, densely foliaged, rounded shrub which bears clusters of bright red bottlebrush flowers at the ends of branches, this Australian native shrub flowers mainly in Spring, with some flowering in Autumn. This dwarf, long flowering variety of Callistemon is ideal for shrubberies, large tubs or as a lawn specimen. The flowers attract nectar feeding birds.

Callistemon are hardy, adaptable shrubs, which grow in the poorest soils, will withstand waterlogging for extended periods, moderate coastal exposure and short periods of dryness. Grows best in moist soils, and flowers best in full sun.

Lightly prune behind spent flowers every year to achieve dense, bushy growth.
