Bamboo ‘Alphonse Karr’
Bambusa multiplex cv. Alphonse Karr (Alphonse Karr)
Clumping bamboo are non invasive, do not spread and have very shallow rootballs. They are safe to plant near fences, houses and pipes, provided you select the appropriate variety. Clumping bamboo are the fastest growing land plants and drought tolerant as well as low maintenance once established.
Alphonse Karr is the smallest gold bamboo, featuring vibrant gold and greens stripes on the culms and an open fan shape. It looks best planted as a single feature or mass planted as a privacy screen. Can grow tall enough to cover a single story house, or can easily be trimmed down to any height if desired. Extremely quick growing and low maintenance once established.
Do not allow your bamboo to dry out for a minimum of 6 weeks after planting – this may require daily watering. Fertlise quarterly with slow release fertiliser. To maintain lush, green foliage and to minimize leaf drop, your will require deep watering through hot dry weather.
