One of the older and more widely known Apple cultivars. Rounded in shape with medium size, the skin is bright red colour with a yellow-green ground colour. Used for fresh fruit, cooking and drying. Matures early to mid season.

Choose an open sunny position in well-drained soil. After planting spread mulch above the roots to retain moisture and suppress weeds, but keep away from trunk. Apply fertiliser to soil above the roots as soon as new growth begins in spring and water in well. Protect from strong winds. Consider netting to protect from birds. Correct pruning techniques are essential to the trees fruiting success. Before planting, prune well back to outward pointing buds. When established, prune in winter.
