A hardy and deciduous tree maturing to around 5m tall. Nuts will ripen January to March and harvest when nuts begin to open. All almonds are not self-sterile, requiring another compatible almond tree which flower at the same time for cross pollination.

Almonds can produce fruit at an early age but start cropping at 3 to 4 years. Almond trees are productive for 50 years or more. Use in whole, crushed or ground nuts in both sweet and savoury dishes. Almonds are a good energy snack.

  • Thrives in organic rich soils, but cannot tolerate waterlogged soils.
  • Drought resistant, but if water stressed will lead to reduced nut quality and quantity.
